A wine that shoes great balance, velvety tannins and smooth character. A gem from the folks at Faustino, this wine features aromas of cherry jam, spice, soil and cigar box that repeat themselves on the palate. An absolutely delicious wine, and a Mike’s Must Have! Drink tonight with pepper steaks or wood oven pizzas.

Heavy spice on the nose gives way to intense black cherry and cassis flavours. Wine is still a bit green as evidenced by the harsh tannins and lack of aroma which would lead me to the conclusion that it needs more time. Crack this red in 5 years time and drink it with a nice t-bone steak or some sharp cheeses and I imagine we’ll be discussing a completely different wine.

Medium ruby with bold cherry flavours, oakiness and spice layered throughout. Smoky notes mingle with flavours of plum and vanilla. Well integrated tannins work with a sharp acidity creating a perfect balance. Strong medium-long finish. I would hang onto this one for another 3 years and drink with filet mignon or hearty beef stew.
